| | There are several dialect spoken in Tambulig but Cebuano is the principal dialect used in the area. It is used by 31,091 individuals or 96.97% of the population. The other dialect spoken by the different tribes are: | Tagalog - 125 or 0.39% Hiligaynon - 271 or 0.84% Ilocano - 110 or 0.34% Ilongo - 127 or 0.40% Subanen - 173 or 0.59% Others - 166 or 0.52%

| | Topography | To the North of the Municipality’s topography is gently undulating terrain running along the Northern boundary. To the South is flat strectching across the entire Municipality converging the coastal portion in the Southeast section which are linked with mangrove trees. There is only one major bay in the Municipality of Tambulig, the Panguil Bay that embraced within 766 kilometers of the coastline.

The Municipality of Tambulig is bounded in the East, by the Province of Misamis Occidental, in the West, by the Municipalities of Molave and Ramon Magsaysay, in the North, by the Municipality of Josefina, and in the South, by the Municipality of Aurora and Panguil Bay in the Southeast section.
Tambulig is geographically situated in the Eastern Section of the first district of the Province of Zamboanga del Sur. It is located at geographic coordinated of 123d308’38” latitude and with 7d7’09” longitude. |

Tambulig came into existence as an independent municipality on December 27, 1957 by virtue of Executive Order No. 282 promulgated by His Excellency, Late President Carlos P. Garcia extracted from the municipalities of Molave and Aurora, both of the same province, respectively.
